First published in 1977 in a uniform series of artist’s books by Lapp Princess Press, this publication diagrams a series of Fred Sandback’s linear sculptures in the simplest terms. Art historian Edward Vazquez has described the drawings as “adamantly abstract—beginning with figures that outline L- and U-shapes, and then vertical lines, all rendered in white on a black ground, coursed through with the even thinner white lines of an isometric grid, a reversal owed to their status as reproduced Photostats of drawings on isometric paper. These drawings make no reference to architecture, and the space implied by the grid ends in a white border to each image.”
